Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool to use for managing your business. But this often requires tedious, repetitive and time consuming work to get the results you need. The macro or VBA feature is a powerful tool that can help you automate your work. In this seminar, you will gain hands-on experience creating your own macros. Some of the work we will be doing includes:
1. Create macros to improve productivity at the office by automating routine tasks. Some of the examples would include automatically printing all the worksheets in a workbook, searching and replacing text across all worksheets, manipulating data to create custom reports.
2. Using macros to extract data from a database such as MS Access to create reports and interactive dashboards with Pivot Tables.
3. Automatically consolidate data from multiple workbooks for reporting with the push of a button.
4. Creating custom User Forms to accept, display and validate data that users enter into Excel.
Prerequisites:
You should have an Intermediate level of knowledge in using Microsoft Excel.
Please bring a laptop with Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 already installed.
A week or two prior to the seminar, a tutorial will be emailed out for participants to work on. This will probably take 1-2 hours to complete.
Speaker: Richard Jang, BCom,DipIT, MCP, CGA
Richard Jang has been providing software and computer networking support to international and North American clients for over 10 years. He has also presented many technical sessions on these topics at corporate conferences in the U.S. and overseas. He is the Director of Technical Services with Sage Software.

CGA-BC’s Conference 2012 promises to be one of the best events ever put on by the Association.
With a host of professional speakers, 19 PD seminars, the AGM, our awards banquet and gala, Friday fun night, and one of the largest tradeshows in B.C. accounting, it’s all hands on deck for CGA-BC staff and the Conference Committee.
At Conference, volunteer participation spells the difference between an event and a truly memorable occasion.
To help make Conference 2012 the success you’ve come to expect, please join us as a volunteer. There is no shortage of fun opportunities—from working the registration desk and welcoming your colleagues to PD seminars to staffing the hospitality suite in the evening. In addition to generating goodwill and getting the behind-the-scenes view, you will receive an exclusive volunteer Conference golf shirt. Better still you will make friends and have a great time.

Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay (For the Kids)—
June 16 and 17 at Swangard Stadium
Last year the CGA Running Team was again tops in the Accounting and Finance Division, for most dollars raised and for most miles run. Now, in 2012, we are poised to break the $225,000 fundraising mark.
Money raised goes to the BC’s Easter Seal Camps to help kids with special needs enjoy specially equipped and staffed Easter Seal camps.
Funding also goes to:
§ Easter Seals houses in Victoria, Vancouver and Prince George
§ Easter Seals bus transportation in communities all over B.C.
§ Patient care grants for therapeutic equipment, prosthetics, transportation and accommodation
§ Bursaries and scholarships for students with disabilities.
Last year the Relay raised $1,000,048 to accomplish this. See the 24HourRelay for great pictures, videos, and to donate online to our team.
Will you join us this year?
The weekend will be a tremendously rewarding and fun experience. When you see the smiles on the kids you’ll be glad you did!
